Not to be confused with Prichard's Krewe of Goats and the Goatman parade, the Prichard Mardi Gras Association is a completely different organization with its own parade.
The PMGA also has its own king and queen. According to the group's history, it began as a mystic society named Copphasa (pronounced co-fa-sa). The first parade was held February 3, 1978, and included five floats.
The name was later changed to the Prichard Mardi Gras Association, and its first coronation was held in 1979.
The PMGA's royal court is made up of students from public and private schools in Mobile County.
This year, the Prichard Mardi Gras Association will parade on Lundi Gras, February 16, at 1 p.m. Expect at least 10 floats.
